About OCC
Operation Christmas Child,
a Samaritan's Purse program which collects and distributes shoeboxes full of essentials and gifts, is a way for members of Perry UMC to share our joy in Christ with underpriviledged children around the world. Each shoebox is accompanied by bible specially printed by Samartian's Purse for children in developing countries, which includes the New Testament plus ten Old Testament stories. Then the children have the opportunity to attend a discipleship program at their local churces with materials from Samaritan's Purse.

Background - Samaritan's Purse
After describing how the Samaritan rescued a hurting man whom others had passed by, Jesus told His hearers, "Go and do likewise."
For over 35 years, Samaritan's Purse has done this. They are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns them a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
