Welcome
Rev. Dr. Brad Brady!

The Staff Parish Relations Committee is excited to have Brad Brady coming to Perry United Methodist Church.  His first Sunday is June 16th, and we will host a welcome reception in the fellowship hall during the Sunday school period that day.

Brad comes to us following four years of service as Assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries.  In this role, Brad gave leadership to the Office of Connectional Ministries team, which provides resources to local churches for the purpose of making disciples of Jesus Christ and provides leadership training for laity and clergy.  In this position, Brad also served on Bishop King’s Appointive Cabinet, which gives spiritual and practical oversight for the Conference’s 630 local churches and 690 clergy.

Brad was born and attended elementary school in Statesboro, GA.  His family moved to Savannah 1964 where Brad later graduated from Windsor Forest High School and earned a B.S. in Education from what is now known as Armstrong Atlantic State University.  He attended Candler School of Theology at Emory University where he completed a Master of Divinity degree.  Ten years later Brad studied at McCormick Theological Seminary and graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree.

Brad’s clergy appointments include:  Swift Creek, Macon (1981); Mulberry Street Associate, Macon (1984); Hillcrest Heights (1985); Epworth/Akin Memorial, Jesup (1989); Pittman Park, Statesboro (1995); Conference Connectional Ministries Director (2000); Macon District Superintendent (2007); and Assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries (2009).

Brad has been blessed with opportunities to serve throughout the United Methodist connection beyond South Georgia’s boundaries.  He served as the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference Secretary and has been elected as clergy delegate to several General/Jurisdictional Conferences.  Currently, Brad is one of 47 people elected from around the world to serve on the general church’s Connectional Table, which discerns and articulates the vision for the church and coordinates the stewardship of the mission, ministries, and resources of The United Methodist Church between sessions of the General Conference.  Brad will continue to serve in this role and carry with him the Perry UMC perspective as this group meets several times each year.

While Brad has offered leadership at all levels of the church, he fully believes that the local church is the primary arena where disciples of Jesus Christ are formed and it is at the heart of why the church exists.  He is thrilled to be moving to Perry and to share faith and life with the people of Perry United Methodist Church.

Please join us the morning of June 16th to give Brad a warm PUMC welcome!

God Bless,

Larry Walker, III

Chairman
Staff Parish Relations Committee
